Dear Somebody #20

Dear Somebody,

This card finds its way to you all the way from Iceland. Okay, maybe not really, because I couldn’t find a post box and had to post it from Sweden, but it’s the thought that counts, right? This time the card goes to a group of people. A group of people that are not part of my everyday life but are valuable nonetheless. You have always been there cheering on me and my family in everything we do. And whenever we visit, it’s always a really fun experience. I think maybe you were the ones to instigate my love for Scandinavia(n design)? ;) So thanks for that! Who knows, I might not have spent so many free days at Ikea, which might not have sparked my interest in Sweden, which may not have caused me to go study Swedish and because of which I might not have spent a semester abroad in Sweden. So: “stort tack till er!”  In any case, it’s a pleasure to have you all in my life. See you soon.

Love,

Silke

Dear Somebody,

I haven’t heard from you in a while, so it’s about time I send you a card. But that’s not the only reason; you are a very special person too! First of all, you are one of the genuinely sweetest people I know. You would never hurt anyone’s feelings and that makes you a valuable friend to have; not only because of this trait but because it inspires me to be a nicer person myself. I think it takes a while before someone can really get to know you, but it is so worth it. You are honest, positive, kind-hearted and funny. And you give the best hugs. Seriously, I miss your hugs. Let’s meet for one soon, okay?

Love,

Silke

Dear Somebody,

A card with an independent, strong woman, one like you. I admire that you are opinionated, no matter what the response. I wish I had was more opinionated, like you. However, despite the strong mind and willpower you have, there is a soft spot, which makes you all the more admirable. You are selfless and you give, a lot, and ask nothing in return. Just make sure you don’t give too much away; take some time for yourself, let someone else take care of you. You have always been so kind to me, always encouraging my worldly endeavours and telling me to keep an open mind. I hope we meet again soon.

Until then,
Love,

Silke

Dear Somebody,

Another very Christmassy card, but this time for you. You get this card because you are a caring, loving and honest person. You are the kind of honest that I sometimes need, the kind of honest that can make you stop and think: well, maybe (s)he’s right!. You are loving and caring in just the right amount; you don’t smother, you don’t neglect, you give pushes when pushed need to be given. You are strong and you don’t let anyone push you around, but you can be just as soft and gentle when someone needs it, even if they don’t know it. You are one of my homes away from home.

Love,

Silke

Dear Somebody,

First of all: I miss you! Second of all, let me tell you why you deserve this amazing Christmassy card (feel free to sing along, by the way). You are simply just a genuine person: honest, friendly, worried about your friends and family, thoughtful, respectful and entertaining. You are a care-taker, always making sure everyone feels good about themselves, including animals. You are also really funny and I feel like even though we don’t see each other very often, we always hit it off and I can already feel my cheeks hurting from laughing just thinking about it. I hope I will be able to call you my friend for a long time coming, because everyone needs a bit of your cheeky, caring and splendid personality in their lives. Especially me, though.

Love,

Silke

Dear Somebody,

You are one of kind. I don’t know anyone who is quite like you. You are a pleasant concoction of a weird sense of humor that somehow is just my cup of tea, a genuine interest in the world, a strong-mindednesss that is admirable, an ability to be nice to everyone and to be extraordinarily considerate to your friends, a power to convince, intelligence and a competence to tackle anything you want. I appreciate having all of these in my life, no matter from which distance.

Love,

Silke
